How to get involved

Safety Training

Review training online (it won't take long). This training is mainly about best practices concerning being around children. Note the completion code at the end of the training. Click here to view the training presentation.

Background Check

  •  Pay $22 at Supply or online for a background check.  Click here to make payment for the background check.
  • Email Tanisha Rogers at trogers@bcswan.net and provide her with the training code from the end of the training. You will then receive a link and a PIN number to complete the background check.
  • You'll be notified of approval or denial via email within 7 to 10 days.

Get on the Schedule

Go to the Volunteer Opportunities page and sign up to be a volunteer.

Orientation

  • Once you've signed up to be a VIP, drop by for a brief orientation. Hear more detail about who you'll be working with, what you'll be doing, and what room you will be working in. (The date for the orientation has passed but we still need volunteers. There is information from the orientation on the Resources page and you can contact us if you have questions.)

What to Expect

  •  The school is located at 51 Benton Rd SE, Supply, NC.
  • On your first day you will be given a fast pass fob to make signing in easy. Someone will take you to the class you will be working in and introduce you to your teacher.
  • On subsequent days, you will sign in and go directly to your class.
  • You will have the opportunity to work directly with a teacher.
  • The teacher will direct you to help with reading, math, or some other subject.
  • Often, you'll work with the same students on an ongoing basis.
  • You’ll have the opportunity to see improvement as the year goes on.
